Kodak EX1011 10" Wifi Digital Frame
|
Review SummaryIf you are looking for a wireless photo frame, the Kodak EX1011 is the best of the bunch. Extended ReviewThe Kodak EX1011 is a full featured wifi enabled photo frame. Images can be streamed to the photo frame using a wi-fi router and Windows Media Player (or for those with a Kodak Easyshare Gallery account, photos can be streamed directly from the internet). Photos can also be added using the standard memory card method. In addition, the frame has a small built in memory of 128mb, enough space to store approx 200 – 300 high resolution photos. These options make the Kodak EX1011 a very flexible photo frame. The LCD screen offers a good pixel per inch density and brightness levels. Photos were reproduced with crisp, vibrant detail. The resolution is in fact the same as the Kodak SV811 which, with it’s smaller 8” screen, has a higher pixel per inch density. However, this loss of detail is only noticeable when images are carefully examined close up. The marketing blurb states that the frame “is ready to go right out of the box”. If the frame is used without the wifi connection, this is true. However, we found the setup process of the wifi connection, requiring synchronisation with a wireless router, to be less than straightforward. We also question if the WiFi function is a bit of novelty, which would go redundant after a few weeks use. In summary, this is a high spec, high quality photo frame. Wifi, videos, music, slideshows, this frame can do it all. The setup of the Wifi connection is not straightforward, but for those familiar with wireless networks, this should not pose a problem.
